Ten different slides of Maths lesson starters for KS3 lower ability. These are ten slides on powerpoint. Useful for lesson starters. A mixture of questions for lesson starters to give you as a teacher those 5 minutes that you need register, settle etc. Slides have a variety of accessible ( hopefully) questions and enough to both occupy and give something to discuss. Simplifying in Algebra. 40 questions. Simplify simple algebra statements on to powers and multiplying out brackets. Useful tool to assess progress; use it once at the start of the topic then use it again after a week of input. Can be used as "Against the Clock" exercise.

Circles test. Areas and circumference. Area of sector. In terms of Pi. A quick revision assessment.

KS3 Percentage Fractions and Decimals test. Checking on Percent to Fractions and to Decimals. Increasing and decreasing by percentage. Even some simplifying ratios.

Year 7 lesson. Some data collection, some group work, some "What if..."

Nice little number trick as a starter or investigation.

Units of Measure ( Metric & Imperial) Lots of conversion facts.

Thirty one questions to promote discussion. Display as a Powerpoint “What if money grew on trees” Ideal for form groups, PSHE etc

KS3 and KS2 resource to introduce Venn diagrams. A practical, outdoor activity - just needs a playground and some chalk ( remember chalk ?). Simple to introduce and carry out.

Logic problem for KS3 and KS4 students. Stimulates discussion and challenges students to prove their case by reasoning. Easy to set up on screen.
